Head up to Evergreen this summer for the 14th annual Evergreen Jazz Festival! This fantastic music festival is located in the scenic mountain town of Evergreen which is just 30 minutes west of Denver. The Evergreen Jazz Festival has been hailed as one of the best in the country and this is something you won’t want to miss! The festival will take place July 24, 25 and 26 at a variety of venues throughout Evergreen. Check out the 2015 lineup!
The world-class lineup for the Evergreen Jazz Festival includes bands such as: New Black Eagle Jazz Band, After Midnight, Carl Sonny Leyland Trio, Queen City Jazz Band with Wende Harston, Felonius Smith Trio, Lost Weekend Western Swing Band, Bogalusa Strutters, Nicki Parrot and Friends, Gypsy Swing Revue, Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra, and the Something Doin’ Big Little Ragtime Band.
The New Black Eagle Jazz band from Massachusetts has an authentic New Orleans sound and a dedication to music from the 1920’s and 30’s. The Black Eagles as they’re known to their fans have headlined festivals and toured the country and Europe.
After Midnight from Denver has played the festival since 2007 and become a favorite with great swing music. The Carl Sonny Leyland Trio is a very popular band who makes their return to the Evergreen Jazz Festival. These guys are definitely worth the trip to Evergreen.
The Queen City Jazz Band with Wende Harston has played together since 1958 when they started performing in Lakewood. The Felonius Smith Trio out of Denver harkens back to the old blues sound and will be a popular act at the Evergreen Jazz Festival.
The Lost Weekend Western Swing Band who is from San Francisco have played together since 1985. They have become a popular Western Swing band who has built a following with their unique blend of music. Bogalusa Strutters will be playing the festival for the third-straight year while Nicki Parrot and Friends come together from different parts of the United States to play the festival.
Gypsy Swing Revue has a unique guitar/violin jazz style that has a French influence. This is a great style of music that would be worth checking out! Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra is a fast-paced swing band that will get the place hopping, so if you want to dance then head to see them!
Something Doin’ Big Little Ragtime Band plays a style of music from the early 1900’s that created the roots of jazz.
Venues for the Evergreen Jazz Festival include the Evergreen Elks Lodge, Evergreen Lake House, Evergreen Christian Church, and the Stagecoach Sports Grill. The festival will also include education workshops and dance demonstrations.
There are many great reasons to visit Denver and the surrounding areas. This summer make sure to head to Evergreen for the 14th-annual Evergreen Jazz Festival. With many great acts playing over three days, this is a great excuse to head to the foothills and enjoy some live music.
