1. National Western Shock Show
The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo is a Denver tradition that stretches more than 100 years. Taking place in January, over 15,000 animals are on display and are sold during the event that has auctions and bull riding along with lots of other farming and western activities. Among the shows in Denver, this is among the longest and rich in tradition!
2. Colorado Garden and Home Show
In February, homeowners from all over in Colorado gather together at the Colorado Convention Center for landscaping, outdoor projects and patio ideas. This expo is full of great ideas and products that will help you get your garden and home ready for the spring
3. St. Patrick’s Day Parade
This is the biggest annual parade in Denver which has horses, stagecoaches, bands, floats and Irish-themed fun that also has a Western-style kick to it!
4. Major League Baseball Opening Day
The Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball open its home season in early April with the traditional Opening Day ceremonies. The city of Denver turns purple in preparation for the game which is always a sell-out. All around 20th and Blake is blocked off so that the Rockies faithful can gather at Coors Field and celebrate the opening of baseball season!
5. Cherry Creek Sneak
Beginning in Cherry Creek North, this annual race involves race participants who run, walk, race, spring through a challenging but fun five-mile course through the streets of Cherry Creek!
6. Colorado Women’s Expo
Towards the end of April, the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver hosts the largest women’s show in the state, featuring speakers and product exhibitors on fitness, fashion, finance, cooking, creative design, and crafts.
7. Cinco de Mayo
The largest Cinco de Mayo event in the United States, this annual celebration brings together 400,000 to the Civic Center Park. Vendors and booths are there to sell Latino food, art and crafts for this amazing celebration.
8. Ride the Rockies
This world-renowned bike race goes through the Rocky Mountains and the Denver Front Range. Spectators gather from throughout the state to observe and cheer on the race.
9. Cherry Creek Arts Festival
In early July, Denver’s Cherry Creek North neighborhood hosts visual, performing and culinary artists along with vendor booths, family activities, and four stages of live entertainment including cooking demonstrations and live music.
10. 9News Parade of Lights
Among the top annual shows in Denver, the 9News Parade of Lights held in early December every year, this parade heads through downtown Denver with bands, lights, balloons and more that celebrates the lighting of the Denver City and County Building.
11. New Year’s Eve Fireworks
There are two amazing fireworks displays along the 16th Street Mall. Fireworks go off at 9 p.m. and again at midnight while the rest of the city celebrates! Ring in the New Year in one of the best cities in the country!
