Fascinating Exhibits

The Denver Firefighters Museum has a rotating list of various exhibits, each illuminating different aspects of the city’s firefighting culture and history. The museum’s next exhibit, “From Fire to Art” is scheduled to run from April 4 to June 3. The exhibit will showcase the artwork of Denver firefighters. 2016 will feature several more exhibits, including “Firefighter Humor” (June 27 – Aug. 26), “Adopt an Object” (Sept 5 – Nov. 5), and “Collecting Fire Toys” (Nov. 17 – Jan. 13, 2017).

Bring your young ones to the six-week Wee Firefighters program, or take them to a monthly Firehouse Tales for Tots storytelling. Several free admission days are scheduled at the museum, as well as appearances at community events like the Denver Firefighters Department’s Chili Cook-off.

Get an in-depth look at the tools, equipment, clothing and more used by the Denver Fire Department over the years that the museum has on display. The museum also houses an extensive research library! A wealth of knowledge about Denver firefighting history can be found in the library’s research collection of books, photographs and more. The library’s materials cannot be checked out, but museum’s guests can use them while they visit. The library is currently closed to the public while undergoing renovations, but you can contact the museum for more information.

Fire Safety Education

The Denver Firefighters Museum doesn’t limit its education to its building! Contact the museum about its in-class fire safety presentations for preschoolers and kindergarteners. These presentations are both interactive and informative, educating children on the importance of fire safety. Teachers can also rent a Discovery Trunk, allowing them to incorporate fire safety education into their classrooms. Trunks for preschool, Kindergarten and grades 1-3 are available for rental.

An Exciting Look at the Firefighting Process!

Sure, everyone knows what firefighters do, but many people know how they do it? The museum’s galleries will guide visitors through the behind-the-scenes action that takes place when responding to a call, as well as the details of fire suppression, and the evolution of firefighting.
